Nederlandse Spoorwegen [Dutch Railways], or NS, is the principal passenger railway operator in the Netherlands, with trains operating on the tracks of the Dutch national rail infrastructure. Responsible for over a thousand trains per day and serving over 1.2 million unique passengers daily, not only is NS central to the everyday life and work of a major part of Dutch society, it is integral to tourism in the Netherlands. 

To serve its customers at the highest level, the NS must keep travelers consistently informed regarding all parts of their journey.
