The Knowledge Guide to Data Protection 3: Introduction to the GDPR

This guide is the third in a series of guides that together aim to give you a basic overview of the entire data protection regime in the UK. It has been written based on the assumption that you have read “Data Protection Part 1: Introduction to Data Protection” and are familiar with some of the terminology from that guide.

This guide is intended to give you a summary of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is nearly 100 pages long. By the end of this guide, you should have a basic understanding of the key themes of the GDPR, which will come into effect in May 2018.
