8 Tactical Local Marketing Strategies For Small Businesses in 2020

A list of consolidated techniques that help small business SEO to gain ranking. SEO is quite a long term play but if you want to generate leads right away, paid search can really help.

Local SEO is a practice of optimising a website to drive traffic and awareness about the business in localised regions. SEO helps small businesses to build brand awareness as users are more likely to trust sites that are on the first page of Google.

Small business owners also utilise SEO to build a strong web presence and bypass their competition to gain new customers by driving high traffic on their websites. Experts work with all the latest tactics to reach a website on top. Higher in search engines means more customers visit the sites and eventually increases the conversion rate.

If your business is not gaining popularity, here are some key benefits that are most effective to raise online local market:-

1. A Great Website Structure

A website would be great if having a smart sense to navigate. Which means it should be linked with other important pages of the websites like about the content, services, and also link to the pages that describe individual services.

Make sure a website should be free of broken pages and links. Broken links are bad because they waste link equity which means these links are not counted to your site as they lead to a dead end.

You can fix it by redirecting the dead page to a similar page or post.

2. Every Page Should have Local Meta Title and Description

Every page of the website should have a unique meta description and title. The title of the length does not exceed at which Google begins to truncate them in the search result.

The pages of the website should contain the targeted local keywords of your service including the geographical area so that the search engine leads to the page directly. Don’t overuse the targeted keywords and don’t force them to put where they don’t belong to.

3. Content On The Website

Content on the website should need to be on point. Google crawls the content to understand whether that webpage is good enough for a particular query. If the content is not well optimised, then it is not easy for Google to rank a website.

4. Google My Business Listing

Add your business profile on GMB, a free business profile from Google. Your business profile appears right when users search businesses like yours on Google search, maps, etc.

5. Local Citations with NAP

Google not only check the structure of your website when ranking but also determine citation. Citations are online mentions of your business name, address, phone number, collectively called (NAP).

It is actually one of the top local ranking factors because it appears at the top of the search result for local terms. It means it pushes down the regular organic listing.

Listing business with the other big directories like Hotfrog, Acxiom, Thomson local, etc. and other relevant industries that are likely to send business your way will be more effective for the marketing of a local business.

6. Do Better than Competitors

Small businesses do have competitors to rank their business higher. Experts for small businesses analyse the competitors that are on the top page of Google search results for the same targeted keywords.

They do a detailed search to find out those for what these sites are ranking for, their website structure, pages they have indexed, the quality of their backlink profile.

7. Focus on Getting Positive Reviews

Reviews are one of the leading search ranking factors. It can improve conversion rates. You can ask the satisfactory people for the positive feedback. It can help to build trust with customers and also organize and manage a review campaign.

8. Images and Video Optimisation

If you are struggling with the competitive keywords a properly optimized video or photos are helpful in doing the same. Graphics representation attracts more users and increases CTR.

This is the list of consolidated techniques that help small business SEO to gain ranking. SEO is quite a long term play. But if you want to generate leads right away paid search can really help. SEO is complicated when having limited time and organic ranking doesn’t happen overnight.
