The Three Rules of Marketing

You will, unquestionably, never meet two marketeers who are the same.

Each marketing professional will have a unique specialist skill, with the odd few who can claim to be a full 360-degree marketing professional with all the qualifications and experience. How they all differ, however, is from the way they perceive what marketing really is.

In the modern digitally enhanced world of product and service promotion, we are finding more technically advanced tools and insightful information that is transforming the way marketers work and operate. The real concern though, is many seem to forget the key fundamental questions and rules that any business must ask itself before it can be seen as a serious player in the marketplace.

So what are the three golden rules of marketing that we all must follow?

1. Know What You Sell

Seems obvious, but you really will be shocked by how many people do not understand what their product or service is and how it makes money. Marketing must work very closely with sales, so it's of the utmost importance for any marketer to be fully aware of the sales proposition. By understanding what it is your company sells, helps drive the promotion and sets the strategy in place.

It also offers absolute clarity of objectives to what needs to be promoted and be the main focus of attention for business growth. General brand awareness is great to get the conversation flowing, but without the key information of what the sales teams are selling, you are shooting blind

2. Deliver a Crowd-Pleasing Website

The most important tool in any marketer’s locker is the company website. No matter what you are promoting, your website is the end platform that the majority of your potential customers will find you by. In the ever-changing digital revolution, the website has become the key weapon in the marketing battlefield. It is your source of data, information, competitor research and can promote your brand more than anything else.

An effective website makes the promotion part of any marketing strategy that little bit easier to complete. Investing in wise UX analysis and accredited website designers is a key part of any business growth. You want your customers to love what you do, so give them a platform that can enjoy over and over again.

3. Offer a World Class Customer Service

You have formulated and implemented a marketing strategy that has led to sales and the inevitable customers your business now has on board. Although the hard work in gaining new customers will lead to more coming as your brand grows, maintaining the users you already have will have a major lasting impact on what your business needs to achieve.

In the social media first world of first-degree complaining from irate clients, offering truly world-class customer services is essential to the longevity of your business. These customers are the backbone to your success and will become the influences your future marketing can rely on as you build case studies and testimonial references around them.

By understanding and focusing on these three golden rules, your business will open the door on achieving success in other core areas that are complemented by these main long-term strategies.
