Tips To Develop a Secure Mobile App Development

According to a survey commissioned by Risk IQ, a California based cyber Security Company, poor security awareness is placing US consumers’ personal details and devices at risk. The survey had brought in 1,000 respondents. 36% of respondents don’t go deep about app’s details, while 47% of respondents don’t read privacy policy and permissions while downloading the app.

The neglectful attitude is inviting cybercriminals to attack devices and hack private information.

In 2018, 45% of all online transactions were done through mobile channels, whereas 61% of fraud attempts came from mobile devices. This survey also showed that 68% of respondents clicked on ads selling a mobile app, movie or game. And around 65% of respondent’s downloaded applications, movies, and games by running through email links, website or social media feed.

If you’re an app owner and don’t want your customers to face security issues in regards to transaction details or personal details, here are some workable solutions:

There are following steps to develop a Secure App and Make It Secure Forever

Early Integration

You should work towards making your app secure right from the first step of mobile app development, not when coding or testing. You should have a seamlessly integrating security method well before app designing. It reduces the possibilities of security risks mounting up during the later stages of app development.

Pre-design Stage

Before going ahead to design the app, you should have a clear understanding of design complications and restraints that won’t hamper app security compliance. The developers have to take care of the company’s privacy policy, the industry policy (as and when applicable), regulatory requirements, confidentiality and so on.

App Design Stage

The application design stage can create multiple security issues. Safety issues happening during this phase are hard to spot and resolve. So it should be taken care proactively. The best method to get those issues is to create a list of all the possible problems well in advance and actions’ list to fight them. Once the design is finished, a security expert has to perform a detailed security design review.

App Development Stage

It is the most important stage where you must to take utmost care to work an error-free code. The developers should avoid likely bugs and follow other security vulnerabilities here. Readymade, automated tools help developers find out issues within the source code, but all may not be able to identify more complex issues. So it should be analyzed manually.

App Testing and Deployment

Earlier to testing the app, you, i.e., testers should correctly document all processes and make security test cases. Test cases help to build a systematic analysis of the app. During the deployment, the production team should work together with the security team to assure complete app security.

Maintenance

When the maintenance, you should attentively examine real users’ reviews and feedback regarding security problems. So you can surely fix the issues and avoid likely threats.

Conclusion

Security is necessary for any app to have, whether it is a user app or an enterprise app.
