How Does Blockchain Technology Help Shape The Future of Social Media

We live in a world where you can stay in contact with the better part of the Earths population at the power of a click. This willingness to connect with other people has led to the uprising of Social Media Giants such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, just to name a few.

At first glance, it is a wonderful idea and something that can truly express our deep desire to communicate with each other. But unfortunately, that only runs skin deep, while behind closed doors it has been proven time and time again to be a monopoly of information auction houses for advertisement companies and governments.

Individuals who have put their trust in these mega-corporations soon found out how they got to their original title in the first place. Instead of making a profit through hard developed content, the only thing they ended up doing was feeding the platform information which they then could freely sell to whomever they wanted for significant amounts of sums, while the content developers themselves only got temporary fame for re-tweets or likes.

This being one of the many red flags that Social Medias have shown is the reason for the apparent decline of users on most platforms.

People eventually got over the hype and no longer want to be a part of this, nothing short of, a subtle and apparently very abusive arrangement.

The last straw, so to say, for most people was the privacy concerns voiced by Security Experts over the years. Vast amounts of private account information being handed off like goods in a supermarket to the highest bidder in these Mega Corporate circles.

Thus, user bases continue to plummet and with good reason.

Why Blockchain Technology?

Let’s dissect how does Blockchain Technology fit in all of this.

Blockchain Technology sits behind most major Cryptocurrencies. You know, the latest trend. But more than just a trend, a powerful decentralized bookkeeping of sorts which can be used to construct a global network of any kind. The real power behind it is, the way it can register and validate transactions for example, not on just one host, but on many nodes with a relatively secure validation system in place.

Here we are mainly talking about the financial aspect of it, with Cryptocurrencies, transactions etc.; But this technology can be used in so many other sectors as well. In our case, Social Media.

Since this technology focuses on privacy, security & validity of information, we can quickly surmise how it can be of use in Social Media Platforms, where content creators can benefit from the very boons that it provides. Imagine writing your own content with your own key in hand and if you need monetary compensation for dispersing it around the globe, you can make sure that you’ll be the one getting the bigger portion of it, not some third party vendor that you haven’t even heard of.

Regain Your Privacy Through Blockchain Technology

Imagine Facebook, but with Blockchain Technology. What does this mean for the user?

  • Private Transactions

  • Private Conversations

  • Custom Cryptocurrency

  • Public Information Ownership

This privacy also extends to the platform itself. Not even the owners of such a Social Media can sniff your communications or transactions. This means they can’t sell what they don’t know. By utilizing this technology you cut out the middleman just enough to protect your privacy. It makes their reputation grow, your privacy safe and everyone is happy.

Earn What You Deserve With Blockchain Technology

As previously mentioned, cutting out the middleman does make space for strengthening your privacy. But it also gives us another set of opportunities. Financial opportunities to be more exact.

Using Blockchain Technology, you are making sure that all of the profits you gain from posting content, for example, is yours. Not the platform, but you, the creator. With specific Cryptocurrencies created for this task, you can establish a following of well-distributed content which can be paid via such transactions.

This type of ecosystem, in turn, creates an economy which can last and be productive for everyone on many fronts.

This way, users of such Social Media can share with ease of mind that their information stays private and their earnings are completely their own.

The Future of Blockchain Social Media

All of the reasons discussed above are why regular Social Medias are doomed to be replaced. Maybe not soon, but when more advanced, secure and generally more practical techniques such as Blockchain gets a healthy hold in their field, we could be looking at a general overhaul of how we view things. Especially Social Media, the great conductor of Information & Modern Privacy.
