Top Tips for Producing Great Blog Content

Whatever type of business you have, having good online blog content is essential. As a business owner, you want to attract traffic onto your website.

The best way to attract traffic to your website is to put the time and effort in needed to create great content. This will help to boost your:-

  • SEO rankings
  • Customer and client leads
  • Online presence

Your blog or website needs to have the right exposure, the more the better. One way to do this is to write original content to attract the attention of search engines such as Google.

Stay away from duplicating content. Google has said that they don’t like it and will actually penalise sites with duplicate content. Having high quality content should improve your site’s rankings leading to a positive impact on your business.

Get the content right

Whatever the reason is for having a website or blog, business or personal, it’s important to get the content right. If you’re a little unsure of how to achieve this, here are five steps to follow:-

Focus on creating strong headlines

Let’s begin with headlines. A good headline will attract interest and be inviting to readers. Recent statistics have shown that around:-

  • 80% of people read headlines
  • Only 20% read the rest of the content

This is why strong headlines are a must as well as sub-headings to break the content up into readable passages.

Come up with original content

As mentioned previously, original content is the key. As a business owner, your ideas should be original. Make them relevant to the services you offer or the goods you sell. Keep your content fresh and don’t go over the same topic again and again. If your content is boring, no-one will read it or link to it. This will defeat the object of writing it in the first place.

Write short and pointed content

One of the most important lessons in writing interesting content is to eliminate the fluff. Write short and pointed content. Be brief and don’t make your blog too long. Try not to focus too much on the word count. A longer blog post doesn’t necessarily mean a better blog post. Stay focused and don’t waffle.

Add images and videos

To communicate with your customers and clients better, why not add images and videos? Some people will be attracted more by seeing while others by hearing. To promote your business, you could incorporate onto your website or blog post:-

  • Pictures
  • Videos
  • Illustrations

At the end of the day no-one wants to look at paragraph after paragraph of text. Images and videos will help to break this up and add more appeal.

Keep updating your website or blog

To stay ahead of the competition, blog and business content writing needs to be updated regularly. If you write a couple of posts then abandon the work, you won’t get many readers or attract new customers. What’s more, search engines don’t favour sites which aren’t regularly updated. You should make the effort to update at least twice a week, after all it’s your content site. Put the effort in and reap the rewards.
