If you run a blog to make more money, you need to know how to convert your readers into paying customers.

Blogging is fun especially if you do it for passion. However, it can get easy for you get caught up in the process. It's important to always see the bigger picture.

Remind yourself the reason why you're here: To build a business.

Are you giving your readers good reasons to buy from you?

In this article, I've listed 7 effective ways to entice your readers to become your customer. Don't just get tons of traffic - start generating more sales today.

1. Show real reviews and testimonials.

People need to know the brand they're dealing with. You can't claim to have the best product or service if you don't provide social proof. Social proof makes you more reliable.

Why should social proof matter that much to you?

According to 2016 survey conducted by BrightLocal, 90% customers read 10 online reviews before trusting a brand. In addition, nearly 60% of customers pay attention to the overall star rating.

How do you generate reviews and testimonials for your website?

Install a WordPress plugin such as WP Review Pro by MyThemeShop. You can choose from different rating types - stars, percentage, and more.

Visitors will also be able to leave unlimited comments without slowing down your website.

2. Create a survey

To meet your reader's expectations, you have to know what they want. There are millions of blog posts written every single day. If you can't provide the information that people are looking for, they won't think twice about leaving.

Surveys allow you to get real honest opinions. this prevents you simply guessing what to write about. Since surveys gather people's personal information, you'll be able to know your readers better.

The easiest way to survey your readers is to ask them what topics they want to know about in your comments section.

Another way is to sign up for a free survey service like SurveyMonkey and email them the survey. You can offer your subscribers a "freebie" such as an e-book or guide in exchange for their active participation.

3. Add specific call-to-action.

After reading your posts, what specific action do you want your readers to take?

Are you encouraging visitors to join your email list? Would you like to invite them to signup for a free trial of your product? Do you need them to participate in an online survey?

Call-to-action are important elements of your blog because they increase your conversions. They help you meet the goals of your business.

Marketing Land lists common types of CTAs which include but are not limited to the following:

  • "Add to cart" buttons
  • Social sharing buttons
  • Help such as online chat
  • Email signup forms (subscription signups)
  • Pop-ups
  • "Read More" links

Add multiple CTAs on every page of your blog and place them in highly visible locations so your readers can easily spot them. If you use a button, its color should be in contrast with the color of your web page.

4. Make your content easier to read.

Not everyone gets to read your content. When someone actually does, that person may not read everything.

HubSpot mentions that less than 20% of your online visitors read every word on your page. Basically, people scan and look for the pieces of information that capture their attention.

Your content should be visually appealing.

It should be able to attract people, not turn them off. Scannable content allows your readers to get your marketing message which encourages them to convert.

Here are some rules to follow for your scannable content:

Provide facts

- Shows numbers. Mentions studies and statistics. Online readers value facts.

Use an active voice

- For example, say "Celebrities trust this product" instead of "This product is trusted by celebrities."

Keep your paragraph short

- Short paragraph allows for white space. This makes your post more pleasant to look at. Avoid a huge, ugly block of text.

Include visuals

- Interesting, relevant visuals enhance the reading experiences of your visitors. Include images, short video clips, infographics, and memes.

Use bullet points and numbered lists

- These break up your text and emphasize important information that your readers need to know. Bullet points and numbered lists are most applicable to how-to posts.

5. Use case studies.

Like online reviews and testimonials, case studies provide social proof. They help your readers trust your products or services more by showing them how you were able to address your audience's problems.

Endorsements from people whose lives were able to improve because of you add more value to your company. In addition to boosting your sales, case studies improve your SEO performance.

Get visuals by creating videos of your case studies instead of using plain blog posts. You can also make Slideshare presentations. These presentations are shareable and Google-friendly.

6. Run a retargeting campaign.

According to AdRoll, only 2% people who shop online actually make a purchase.

Retargeting, also known as remarketing, is an advertising strategy that helps who have already visited your site.

What happens is that a pixel or cookie is dropped to your visitor's browser so your ads will be shown to him the next time he surfs the web. your ads will "remind" the person of his recent contact with your blog.

Retargeting gives you a second chance to entice your readers to do business with you. The chance for a purchase to happen is also high because these people are already familiar with your brand.

7. Avoid sounding salesy.

The last thing your blog readers want is to be sold.

Of course, people are willing to buy. That's one of the reasons why they go online. just don't turn off an interested audience by doing in-your-face marketing.

Believe me, you'll be able to sell not by sounding salesy. Focus on providing content that educates people. Offer expert advice, actionable tips, and techniques that they can apply in their day-to-day lives.

Always make it a point to let your readers know how they can benefit from your product or offer. Show the benefits, not just the features.

Final Thoughts

Don't just settle for growing traffic. Adopt a business mindset by not losing track of your overall goal. Get started today. Take the initiative to generate sales.

Apply the tips I've mentioned. You'll notice that all the steps in this post aim to offer value to your readers.
