Why it’s time for HR to get their heads into Virtual Reality?

In today’s digital age when everyone is going head over heels when it comes to virtual reality, how can human resources get aboard? For the naysayers, virtual reality can be implemented into various business operations and functions.

From space travel to self-driving cars and 3D printing to artificial intelligence (AI), we have come a long way in terms of technological advancements. Simply put, we are living in the most exciting times in the history of humankind.

Of all the tech trends, Virtual Reality (VR) technology is one of the most fascinating , which promises great potential for not only consumers, but also to businesses. Although, virtual reality has been often associated with gaming, this evolving tech trend is breaking the glass ceiling that once barred businesses from embracing it.

When talking about business, one cannot overlook the essence of human resources aka HR, which sits at the heart of every organization. Since a business is everything about people and relationship management, HR undoubtedly comes as a critical entity that helps connect the dots between a business and its staff.

In today’s digital age when everyone is going head over heels when it comes to virtual reality, how can human resources get aboard? For the naysayers, virtual reality can be implemented into various business operations and functions. For instance, imagine a virtual tour of the company, a holistic view of services/products a business has to offer or providing simulated training to new recruits.

Here’s how virtual reality can help:

  • VR as a team-building tool

Fun games, potluck, selfies, etc. employees are bonding in novel ways than ever. Nevertheless, virtual reality can take team-building experience to a whole different level. Since it’s the era of globalization, it is common to see an increasing number of businesses crossing borders and expanding to new geographies. Though HR software and payroll software solutions are proving to be a boon for managing payroll and employee data of a remote workforce, team building is one aspect that these tools fail to address.

Keeping a remote staff connected is no easy feat even with access to modern communication means. This leads to a less productive and cohesive workforce. Here, businesses can put to use virtual reality technology for realistic and face-to-face video conferences and carry out team building activities globally.

Eureka! HR professionals can set up virtual and social events through augmented virtual reality technology to persuade robust communication and engagement in a cost-effective and quick manner.

  • Training

Employee onboarding and training is one critical area that stand at the forefront when it comes to enjoying the benefits VR technology has to offer. For instance, if you intend your new recruit to be good at managerial skills, you no more need to register for some time-consuming or costly management course, since a virtual coach is all you would require to get the thing done. Plus, trainees get to select the pace of training thus, the flexibility. VR would make it relatively easier for employees to explore and embrace diverse business functions and areas. In addition, a good HR software with built-in training management system would help keep a track of various training programs being offered to employees at different positions and departments, all under one tab.

  • Candidate experience

Yes, candidate experience is one crucial aspect that most of the businesses fail to accentuate upon. Today, it has become imperative for businesses to provide optimum candidate experience to attract and retain the best talents. Imagine a virtual tour of the office premise wherein the candidates or newly recruits can virtually meet and greet employees from other departments to understand the work culture and environment or can even take up some new project/training.

Takeaway

To conclude, virtual reality is mainly about improving the user experience and thus, it shouldn’t come as a shocker if organizations start to embrace the idea of this futuristic and intriguing tech trend for employee engagement, team building, candidate experience, etc. As a matter of fact, it shouldn’t take longer until virtual reality transforms into a tangible asset for businesses all across the globe.
