Modern Businesses Must Invest In Content Marketing and Here is Why

Read about why businesses must invest in content marketing.

Entrepreneurs often disregard content marketing before realizing its awesome benefits. It is true that content marketing requires a lot of effort and creative thinking, but the long-lasting benefits it brings are much more valuable for emerging businesses than the one-time sales increase ignited by traditional advertising or hard-selling tactics.

In this article, I will list and review the most important reasons why companies should invest more money into developing their content marketing strategies.

It Brings High Returns

Building a comprehensive content marketing strategy takes up a lot of time. But unlike traditional advertising, it brings much higher returns. While you can broadcast TV commercials only if you pay for the service, with interesting and useful content the situation is different. It continues to spread your brand’s awareness and authority for free, years after it has been published.

Google does not make a difference between regular content and the one that has been produced for content marketing purposes. High ROI is a reason why entrepreneurs should have a content marketing strategy even if they do not have enough time for content creation. This is not a major problem since they can always outsource the tasks to a digital marketing agency such as FourDots, for example.

It is Easy to Integrate With Other Marketing Strategies

You can create a top-notch social media campaign but it will not return the desired results unless it has been integrated into a broader content marketing plan. If you have thousands of followers on social networks, you will also need lots of interesting content to share with them.

Efficient content marketing strategies also drive a lot of organic traffic to a company’s web page and increase the number of search engine referrals. Even guerilla marketing campaigns require at least some amount of content creation.

Compatibility With a Wide Variety of Different Media

Most people instinctively connect content marketing with writing articles. Actually a good content marketing strategy should encompass many different types of media, including:

Videos- In recent years marketers have fully integrated short videos into their content strategies. These videos are also a very powerful media form for social media advertising;

Audio- Podcasts originate from one-man radio shows and they have been a very popular form of promotional content ever since;

Graphics- Infographics are great for presenting statistics in a fun and interesting way;

eBooks- Content writers often merge several articles into an eBook. This form of content is a very powerful promotional tool if it is given out for free. Writers can also sell their eBooks in order to increase their marketing budget.

It Boosts Customer’s Loyalty

A few decades ago, good customer service required nothing more than a friendly staff and an expert support. Due to increased competition, these two practices are not sufficient for building a loyal customer base. Today, companies need to do some extra work in the customer service field and content marketing can be a perfect extension of their customer retention strategy.

Posting interesting and useful content helps them to create a special type of relationship with their customer base and to keep them happy and satisfied.

It Increases Sales

If you create an interesting blog as an addition to your company’s web presentation, your customers will visit your website on a daily basis and your products will be the first ones they will take into consideration.

Companies need to make sure that their customers are well-informed about the special offers, discounts, and add-ons and in that sense, company’s blogs, vlogs, or social media pages can be used as information portals. Interesting and useful content should answer the customer’s questions and teach them how to make the most out of the products and services they buy.

Before entrepreneurs start creating fresh content and posting it all over the web they should do a thorough research of their competitors. This way, they will be able to determine their ‘purple cow’ and to find new ideas that will enrich their content strategy.

If their competitors still have not recognized the benefits of content marketing, entrepreneurs will have a unique opportunity to become influencers who will set their brand apart from other brands in the industry.
