What Do Companies Really Expect of Digital Agencies?

In Dublin today, most companies are lucky to have an experienced digital team/dedicated Marketing Position which let’s face it, makes it even harder today for a Digital Agency to convince companies they need a ‘third party’ as such, to think outside the box and lead a desired campaign or strategy.

Speaking from outside ‘Digital Agencies’ for some companies are just added to expense to ‘fancy reporting’ with no real or quantifiable or long-term results.

So what makes a digital agency stand out amongst the crowd?

  1. Relate – at the end of the day, when pitching your services to a new company, before you make the ever important phone call, its important to try understand there goals and needs. It seems obvious but you’d be surprised with the level of calls made on a daily basis to companies with pitches such as: ‘ would you like to be on page 1 of google search results ?’ Its an ultimate fail should you come up against an experienced market, and not only that , you simply don’t look credible,

  2. Be real- Marketers and businesses don’t want to be ‘sold to ‘, it’s important t get the core message of the company and offer a proposal that truly suits them. Understand their  current mission ad but it’s equally important to explore their past failures to understand how to move forward.

  3. Reputation and availability – It’s all well and good, boasting of the big names you’ve worked with but at the end of the day, the investing company need to know they can rely on you to be there  throughout their entire  campaign/project. Testimonials will stand in your favor here along with a solid reporting plan, along with a one-one meeting personally on the progress of the project.

  4. Be clear about cost, and provide your ‘campaign’ with sexy material. Once you have introduced yourself to the key company contact, the initial thought of a company is ‘what is this wonderful service going to cost me?’ sets in immediately. Nowadays it’s all about track able ROI so many Marketing Managers find it hard to get a sign off on a digital agency investment. This is where you need to have an effective presentation at the ready to relates t ‘their’ business model, which shows effective results. invest your time in segmented presentations.

4 Simple steps, but a possible ‘right’ step in the door for a Digital Agency to have the edge over another in this face paced digital landscape.
