The Newbie-Friendly Social Guide To Reddit

Presenting - The newest and the most comprehensive (in a newbie friendly) guide for Reddit promotion!

You might recognize Reddit for its notorious role on the internet as a great source of weird news and other “rude” references such as the Fappening (which shows leaked images of celebrities). This made Reddit and 4chan as two of the most “avoided” websites on the internet due to their reputation.

As a marketer, I find Reddit as one of those underrated ad sites. Many do not realize the power (and the reach) of Reddit. You may not know it, but Reddit may be able to reach more targeted traffic than any website there is (and yes, that includes Facebook as well). So if you think you could ignore Reddit, you better read this carefully! Marketers, get your pens and papers ready because I’ll give you your easy-peasy guide of promoting your brand with Reddit!

Note: I won’t be using super-complicated and super-formal words and information to ensure that this article will be newbie-friendly enough for even the newbiest of the newbies can understand.

What is Reddit?
Reddit is your usual website that caters everything under the sun. When I say everything under the sun, it means EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN (and the SUN itself). It’s a website that collects posts and links about certain topics (or in their term, Subreddits). These subreddits separates every post into specific categories.

As a website owner that wants to promote on Reddit, you must post your content to the right subreddit for to be more effective. As of the day that I’m making this content, there were almost 571,667 subreddits existing on Reddit. That’s more than half a million catering category that can give the right traffic for you.

Why can it give me more targeted site traffic?
Well, just look at 571,000 categories that Reddit offers to its viewers. Compare to other websites, Reddit gives the almost the most exact/accurate targeting service ever. What’s great about this is that almost every subreddit existing on Reddit are all active, meaning you can expect engagements immediately.

How can I promote on Reddit?
Just like any other websites, you could promote on Reddit by either paying for it or by posting for free. For free promotions (for I bet you’d be more curious on this matter), you could simply post anything (content, article, link, promotional videos, images or the likes) on the subreddit that it belongs.

Take note that this process is very tricky since you must aim on the perfect subreddit to maximize the effectivity of your post. If you posted it on the perfect post, you could easily gain views, upvotes (the Reddit’s version of Like) and even attract a lot of web traffic if you include your website’s URL on it.

For paid ads, you could just follow the usual type of posting and state some additional settings to it. You can make your post appear on the front page of Reddit, or you could target specific subreddits instead (tip: for a wider reach, go for the front page setting, if you want to focus more on targeted website traffic, go for the specific subreddit setting). Either way, you could get website traffic easier and faster when you chose paid advertisement.

Give me another 3 good reasons to choose Reddit

  • “170 million engaged and passionate users” within your reach
  • Great way to inform viewers and interact with them
  • Can cover multimedia posts So if you are willing to try out Reddit, suit yourself!

Get more targeted traffic in the littles time when you venture into the world full of subreddits! Escape from bad reputation and test Reddit! You might be surprised with the results in the end.
