Social Media Mistakes That Everyone Keeps On Committing (Part 1)

I bet that you've been making these social media mistakes for a very long time! It's time to quit them.

Read the first batch on the list, here!

I think that we all agree to the notion that social media helps every marketer in dealing with their customers on their business. Without social media, your online business stinks. Not optimizing your chances on social media leaves you kilometers behind your competitors. We also knew that social media brings you targeted website traffic (which is a highly-convertible traffic that's good for your business).

We've been "mastering" social media for a very long time now, but who would've thought of some things that we thought were right was actually wrong? And yes, we've been doing these mistakes for a very long time now. "Oops" is not the right feedback to give when you discover that some social media practices that you are doing recently isn't really doing well at all. Let alone this list be your guide on what social media practices should you avoid in the future.

With proper explanation and some suggested solutions included, let me give you these social media mistakes that everyone keeps on committing.

  1. Posting the same contents on each and every social media site that you have - Social media is not a French army knife that can fit on any situation. Remember, each social media site has its own target audience, environment and the likes. Not all website traffic from a certain site would give equal engagement once they saw it from another site. Take note that not all posts that worked at Facebook could work wonders on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and the like. Before you could enter a social media site, make sure that you understand it fully. In this way, you could easily sort out posts which can perfectly work out well within the SM sites that you've chosen
  2. Not replying on your post feedbacks- Oh, a feedback? Maybe you should just give it a LIKE and leave it there, right? WRONG! LIKES have lesser and lesser value as time goes by. Now, LIKES aren't enough to show that you actually "care" about your feedbacks. Your social media traffic would appreciate more if you can say something to their feedbacks. It's simply showing that you actually care about it, and you can spend time dealing with it. That's ENGAGEMENT in your customer's POV.
  3. Not being "personal" with your posts and updates - You are selling your products and services to fellow humans, and the best way to connect with humans is to be a "human" brand. I know some brands that post statuses and the like just because they have to. And what do your customers see whenever you post "robotic" statuses that sound fake? Sheep! Humans reconnect with humans. Feel free to personify the brand as you. In this way, you'll get more chances to get targeted traffic in the future.

These are just some of the most of the mistakes that usual marketers commit with social media. I'll keep you guys wanting more!

I'll post the second batch of social media mistakes on the article so you better keep your eyes peeled! Remember, social media is a valuable gem in your online business. Keep you social media traffic in you!
