3 Tips For Getting Started With Content Marketing
Starting out with content marketing can be a daunting task. You know you have something to say, but before you make that initial investment of time, resource and budget, here are some good tips to keep in mind:
-
Think About Your Audience. Try to identify each type of customer as a persona. Use data from your CRM systems, social media tools and even customer databases to learn more about your target identity. Audience identification is the most important way to ensure that your content is strongly received and shared. Some questions to keep in mind to help you build your personas:
-
What type of job role do they have?
-
What challenges are they trying to solve?
-
How do they talk to one another?
-
What tone of voice are they using?
-
Where are they gathering (which social media channels are they using)?
-
Where is the best place to share information with them?
-
Do they think in words or in pictures?
-
Humanise Your Content. You may have data, facts and figures, but use the art of storytelling to engage your audience.
-
Listen Before You Speak. Once you find your target audience (and you may want to start with your top existing customers), listen to what they’re saying and how they’re saying it. You’ll learn alot more this way than any data analysis can tell you. It will increase your education about your customer and prospect base, which then positions you as a thought leader. It also shows that you’re really listening to your audience, and you support what they have to say.
