Online search has become so powerful and increasingly essential to pay attention to, not only as a digital marketer, but as a consumer! From looking for a local plumber to purchasing the latest piece of tech, companies and consumers are becoming smarter in the way that they operate online. The speakers at the September Digital Doughnut meet-up are both search ‘experts’ and will look at the power of search from both perspectives, e-commerce for businesses and for consumers.
Emily Hill will be speaking about Semantic Search - ’Create content that will appeal to both people and Google!’ I stumbled across Emily when I was researching content marketing. She runs a workshop on copywriting best practice at the Content Marketing Show which comes highly recommended.
For the last 8 years Emily has been developing Write My Site, a content marketing agency based in Ealing, West London. They specialise in helping businesses improve their online visibility through blogging, social media marketing and top notch web content.
What I loved about Emily’s motto is she understands and truly believes that everything people write online should be understood both by humans and search engines. Which seems like common sense, but we have all seen some of the crazy ways people try to drive traffic to their webpage!
“What do you want the audience to take away from your presentation?”
Emily: “I’d love for the audience to gain a real understanding of semantic search: what it is, why it matters, and how to create content that will appeal to both people and Google.”
“What are your predicted digital marketing trends for 2015?”
Emily: “I think awareness of the need for excellent written content will continue to increase. Search algorithms are becoming ever more sophisticated, and they are getting better at distinguishing genuinely helpful articles and web pages from generic blurb!”
“What is your favourite Doughnut?”
Emily: “Definitely the classic jam doughnut!”
