Creative Social Media Campaign Ideas for Christmas

With just over 2 months to Christmas, now is the time to decide if you want to run a Social Media Campaign this season

1) Advent Calendar

We’ve delivered a few of these campaigns for clients and they’re great for encouraging repeat visits to your Facebook page and reinforcing your brand in the mind of potential customers.

Each day there’s the opportunity to give away a new product, discount code or interesting fact.

2) Pull My Cracker

Here’s a campaign to really get into the Christmas spirit and involve your friends too!

Simply pull (click) the cracker to see if you a. win a prize or b. get a cheesy joke like; Why couldn’t the skeleton go to the Christmas party? He had no body to go with!

3) Pick your gift under the tree

Visitors to your Facebook page can chose a gift from under the virtual Christmas tree for a chance to win a prize.

Entrants get a one in ten chance of winning a prize, and those who don’t win are given the chance to enter the major prize draw, optimising conversions.

Users who share the campaign are given a greater chance of winning the major prize, via a system built to track referrals over Facebook, Twitter and email.

4) Christmas Photo and/or Video Competition

Capture Christmas

While this classic Facebook Competition can be used ANY time of the year, Christmas is the perfect time to cash in on the festive spirit.

Create a viral effect, driving new exposure to your brand by inviting people to upload pictures or videos and other users to vote on the entries.

How about “Best decorated Christmas tree”, “Best arranged Christmas table”, “Best holiday memory” or “Most creative Snowman” (not applicable to all countries). Or in the video case “Best Christmas song” or “Best Santa Claus interpretation”.

Make sure to offer something really attractive as the prize as this form of competition requires extra effort from your fans than just filling in a form.

5) Catch the Christmas Elf!

With this Christmas competition, we challenge users to catch the Christmas Elf, hiding somewhere in Toy Town!

To enter this ‘Where’s Wally’-esq competition all you have to do is find and click on the Elf. Then, depending on what you require from the campaign, the App can do two things;

A) EITHER, generate a pop-up, congratulating users for finding the elf and prompting them to enter their details to be entered into the prize draw. At this point, you could offer them a voucher for entering too!

B) OR, once clicked users can be taken to a webpage of your choice. Here they will find the answer to a question they need to be entered into the competition! This is an extra step but it’s sure to drive valuable traffic to your website.
