The next event is running under the Digital Leaders banner on the afternoon of 27th Feb in London. Following on from the success of our Digital Leaders Drivers Of Change Trends Briefing, we’d like to invite you to join us at The Magic Circle for the third instalment.

Digital Leaders Trends Briefings are intended to challenge and stimulate you, giving you an expert view of the key issues that are driving change in the digital landscape. The theme of the next event is the ’Age of Participation’ and we’re looking at trends that are visible now but that we expect to have a big impact in the next couple of years.

Please note with all Digital Leaders events we ask you to apply to attend. We do this to ensure all attendees are of Director level and above and that there is the right balance of client, agency and supply businesses. We do not allow overtly sales types or recruiters to attend Digital Leaders events.

JP Edwards -Executive Director, Futures at Manning Gottlieb OMD

Jean-Paul has been with Manning Gottlieb OMD over 12 years - his entire media career. He has been in the digital sector since 1997 when he found himself buying an online banner campaign whilst waiting for a computer network to be installed. The next 6 years involved riding the first dotcom rollercoaster and building the online offering from himself to a team of 15 people.

In 2003, Jean Paul started what was then a unique offering from a media agency, Media Futures, providing the agency’s clients with valuable insight into the impact of new technology on media and marketing. After a 2 year stint with OMD UK group he is back with the agency entirely focused on decoding the future for Manning Gottlieb OMD and its clients.

Mo Syed – Head of User experience at Amplience

How a scientific approach to design will form a pillar of the future processes of digital business

This talk will consider how ideas from the industrial revolution on using the scientific method within management can inform digital product design strategy today. We will explore how to capture and use data effectively to guide decision making processes and how using this approach allows you to make faster and more objective decisions that will change the way design generates value for your business.

Mo Syed is Head of User Experience at ecommerce merchandising platform vendor Amplience. He is a regular speaker on UX and ecommerce at a variety of industry fora including events held by Internet Retailing, The IMRG and E-Commerce UK.

Mo has been researching, and designing interactive experiences for a range of brands including M&S, Vodafone, Premier Inn, Barclaycard, Mercedes-Benz, Thomson Reuters and BP; agency, in-house and in startup land. He has a research background in Psychology and loves knowing what makes your customers tick.

Sarah Wood – COO and Founder at Unruly

How video is changing the future, now.

Video advertising is the fastest growing ad format worldwide and video sharing around the globe has grown 50x since 2006. In this interactive session where participants will get the opportunity to vote for the ads they want to see via Twitter, Unruly Co-founder and COO, Sarah Wood, will reveal the hottest trends for social video advertising in 2014.

Sarah Wood is co-founder and COO of marketing technology company, Unruly, where she ensures that the company delivers the most awesome social video campaigns on the planet. 

Sarah has been voted UK Female Entrepreneur of the Year by the Growing Business Awards, one of 15 Women to Watch in Tech by Inc. and one of 10 London-Based Entrepreneurs to Watch by Forbes. 

Sarah teaches the Screen Media and Cultures MPhil at the University of Cambridge and has been a member of Social Media Week’s Global Advisory Board since 2011.

Alan Mitchell - Strategy Director at Ctrl-Shift

Individuals are beginning to assert more control over how their data is collected, used and shared. When information becomes a tool in the hands of the individual, traditional notions of targeting and relevance become out-moded. What are tomorrow’smodels of digital marketing?

Ctrl-Shift’s mission is to transform the business of personal data by seizing the opportunities of ’the control shift’ - the shift from companies controlling information about customers to individuals controlling information about themselves. Alan has worked with a number of clients on this opportunity including Aimia, Consumer Futures, Department of Business Innovation & Skills midata project, GfK, RBS and Swift.

Before setting up Ctrl-Shift Alan spent 20 years researching, writing about and commenting on consumer, market and marketing trends: as editor of Marketing magazine, as marketing correspondent for The Times, as a contributor to the Financial Times and columnist for Marketing Week and Brand Strategy. In 1997 he wrote the Financial Times report Brand Strategies in the Information Age. In 2001 he wrote Right Side Up and 2005 The New Bottom Line, which introduced and fleshed out the concept of the control shift.

Niall Murphy - Founder & Chief Executive Officer - at EVRYTHNG

The Internet of everything

Niall is a technologist and serial-entrepreneur. Niall co-founded pan European WiFi network The Cloud in 2003, acquired by British Sky Broadcasting (a subsidiary of News Corporation) in 2011. He was also recently CEO of multi-platform gaming software firm Marmalade.

Niall founded one of the first ISPs in Africa in a joint venture with Sprint in 1994, later acquired by UUnet. He subsequently founded three digital media businesses in South Africa, he later sold. He also co-founded The Digital Thinking Network, a future scenario planning organisation based in Amsterdam.

Niall has authored and presented numerous papers around the world, including at TED. He was a co-author of the WiFi International Roaming Access Protocols framework in 2005, adopted by the IETF. Niall contributed as a policy adviser on telecoms in South Africa in the early 90s through an African National Congress (ANC) think tank.
